If you dont ask the price…..

Most Antique dealers don’t disclose prices. Although that may be boring, there are several advantages, and you can play that to your advantage.

Ask the price, and don’t be shy, the dealer is not going to be insulted or upset, for all you know he may be willing to move it on at cost or worse at a loss, just to get the cash flow back in the business. Most of the time the price may be way over what you are prepared to pay, but every now and then you will find something that in your view is cheap. – That is the stock that gives you a deal and a better chance of a worthwhile investment that is actually going to to give you a profit, not in 20 years time but now.

So the point of my post is this, if you don’t ask the price you will never find a good deal and your antique collecting will be compromised.

It couldn’t be easier to ask the price at IDHOME, every item has a email already written out for you, all you need to do is add your email address, number and name and press submit. Alternatively, you can just make an offer and tell me what you would like to pay.

The John Parry collection at Christies

A passion for walnut, oak and yew only scratches the surface of this finely patinated collection of sumptuous early eighteenth century antique furniture and objects, the extensive and finely chosen collection extends to a staggering collection of rare fruitwood tea caddies, stools, knife boxes, clocks and all sorts of treen for the avid collector.

The catalogue is beautifully presented with 123 lots that end in a good selection of the great books that every furniture collector should own, including the three volumes of Percy Macquoids The Dictionary of English Furniture.
